What is a Mdcat?

MDCAT stands for Medical & Dental Colleges Admission Test. Mdcat is an entrance exam for medical & dental universities in Pakistan. MDCAT was formerly called MCAT. It comprises an in-depth quiz of subjects such as Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and English. It is considered extremely competitive and students are known to study a whole year just to prepare for this exam.

Test Pattern:

The test shall consist of one paper containing 200 multiple-choice questions four options with the single best answer- divided into following four sections;

  • Biology (80 MCQs)
  • Chemistry (60 MCQs)
  • Physics (40 MCQs)
  • English (General for language proficiency) (20 MCQs)

Each question carries 01 marks. Total marks, therefore, are 200. The duration of the Test will be 150 minutes. There shall be question papers of different codes and each student have a different paper from one another. Minimum 60% marks need to pass the Entry Test. Minimum 70% aggregate is needed for Admission to MBBS and Minimum 60% aggregate need for admission to BDS Program.

  • Intermediate Science or Equivalent Examination with minimum 70% marks.
  • Securing at-least 70%, unadjusted marks. However, those awaiting results can also apply.
  • Equivalence Certificate, if foreign qualifications such as A-Level or American 12th Grade.

Who can Apply:

  • It is Mandatory for students having domicile of Punjab to appear in MDCAT for admission to any Public Sector Medical and Dental Institution of Punjab and any Private Sector Medical and Dental Institution of Pakistan.
  • The students having domicile of any district of Punjab, Islamabad, and Foreign Nationals or Overseas Pakistanis can appear in MDCAT.
  • Mere appearance in MDCAT does not confer the right to apply for or claim admission to any medical and dental institution.
